OLD-BOY (straight translation which means old man with a boyish attitude), also known as “潮叔” in Cantonese. The portrait was designed using Ink-Painting technique which portrays the old but boyish charm of the man that makes him acting very much like a kid.

Boxies is a translation from our childhood handmade costumes, that made out of the used carton boxes that once kept fruits from the market, the tv and vcr player boxes our parents kept folded. It is not just a character. It is something we turned into a 3D paper toy, which is not just a toy, but a companion. At the same time we tried to stay true to its original ideas which uses paper as the medium of the creation. Colors and personalized design has enhanced their individuality that formed a community of its own. A COMMUNITY OF BOXIES which speaks a language and a lifestyle of its own.

MyConcept: 沐猴而冠。沐猴（猕猴）戴帽子﹐装成人的样子。比喻虚有其表﹐形同傀儡﹐不管和他說什麼都聽不進去的人。

His name is 'Wu Ji'. The core of this art revolves around the famous Chinese symbol- Yin and Yang (that represented the harmony and unity between complimentary opposites) and Ba Gua (eight diagrams used in Taoist cosmology to represent the fundamental principles of reality) that existed 5000 years ago. This object also holds the power and control of space and time which is also represented by the symbol - ∞Infinity. All elements of the world is highly influenced by 'Wu Ji'.

The Limitless (Wuji) produces the delimited, and this is the Absolute (the circle)
The Taiji produces two forms, that is yin & yang (2 horns).
The two forms produce four phenomena (4 legs).
The four phenomena act on the eight trigrams (ba gua) (8 fingers).

DIGITIZATION: The Contemporary Digital Art of Malaysia's Emerging Designers.

“Digitization” is a collective featuring a diverse range of digital artworks created by Malaysia’s Young Emerging Designers. It is an exploration of the new media art, h...ow its complex effects influences the way we perceive, think and feel, just like conventional art does.

In the spirit of unearthing young and emerging Malaysian designers, contemporary digital art and culture in Malaysia has become an exciting, diverse and vibrant realm. With this new territory, the progress of Malaysian art will be unveiled and tapped to indefinite possibilities, by the harmony of inspirations, into a fusion of ideas.

In appreciating these designers’ works of art, one inadvertantly participates in a broader understanding and acceptance of digital media and cultures. Taking its cue from the exhibition, this book attempts to show that digital is the main current of 21st century art.

This will the first round pre-highlights of Digitization at Bigbros workshop showcase space at Creative Catalyst in conjunction with Bangkok Design Festival 2009. 好久没写部落格了，有点空闲就写点儿吧！

最近迷上了同事借给我的一本书“西藏生死书”。这是本教人面对死亡，从而懂得如何学习生活的人生哲学。除了艺术、漫画、中国历史书外，人生哲学是我满喜欢的题材，因我认为人生下来就是让我们学习如何做人。这书上说，做人有好人、坏人之分，只要你不想做坏人，第一步就是不要伤害别人。一旦你伤害了别人，到最后被伤害的总是你自己本身。这是我非常赞同的说法。例子像在公共场合抽烟人士一样，自己正在做个慢性杀手而不自知。抽烟不但伤害周遭的朋友，而且最后受苦的终究是自己。每个人都曾经犯过错，改变才是唯一正途，一切都不会太迟。这书本借了很久了，因还有几本书还要看，最后终于轮到它了。正在看的时候有点鸡皮疙瘩起来，太玄妙了！Shevy，我还有一大半还没看，迟点再还你啊！谢啦！

对了，之前其实写了满多东西在另一个BLOG，有兴趣可以游览"http://et-wch.blog.friendster.com/"(eT相对论)一番！
本来打算把那边的文章搬过来，但那些都是满久的事情了。所以也就打消这个念头，得空再写写、练练文笔！哈哈！

KLDW 2009- BECOME "1000+7 DESIGNS"
第一届的KLDW终于在上星期六结束了，这个EVENT应该每个大马设计界的同仁都知道的盛会。小弟去年头得知BECOME - Be an ECO friend like me! 有个设计比赛，便踊跃的下笔画了一幅画 - enough said.
这幅作品的概念是每当我们说环保的时候，第一时间我会想到什么？就是人类为了追求自己的发展、方便，就胡乱xxxxxxxxxxxxx. 什么是xxxx，我想大家都知道是什么含义。既然如此又何必呢？所以我女友便帮我取个英文名为-"enough said", 就是"说够了"的意思。

This holiday was quite boring, so i thought Ill just paste a little of the 'The Making' of my 'Darkstalker: Lantern of the Night' because im not on the list!Haha~
Hope u guys enjoy the process of my work as much as I did & feel more psyched about digital painting~ Wink

FIRST STEP
Got a hot Nescafe 3 in 1 'Rich' on my table. It has to be rich or nothing would feel the same. And lets not forget the music i like(both also very important!)

STEP 2
Opened a new file and started fast sketching on this character(Hsien-ko) & the background...

STEP 3
Next, I added another new layer for detail outline

STEP 4
Sketched some accessories for her...(i wan her to be a little bit punk)

STEP 5
The hardest part of the sketch is the hands coz this hand is also Hsien-ko's weapon in Darkstalker

STEP 6
I tried sketching a number of times and spend some time on this weapon but... +__@
then i stopped to get my inspiration by playing PSP Darkstalker ..

STEP 7
Finally, idea popped out when i won the game on my PSP. Each time Hsien-ko wins the match, she will put her hand on the weapon! Here it is, her new hand was born...

STEP 8
Because the new hand blocked the temple of my background ... so i drew a new one, at the same time, giving the readers a glint of where she actually stays...

STEP 9
My concept is she juz beat down ANAKARIS(Egypt King) and to represent that, i drew a bit his element on the floor to show that he lost in that match...The word '奠’ i drew with chinese traditional brush(毛笔) on paper & scanned it and adapted it onto the lantern & multiplied it.Done. This is my final sketching...

STEP 10
It's time to fill color on it! I put some basic color on her at first...(i only use this Tinting[basic round] to finished this work)

STEP 11
Actually i love to finish my main character first then continue with the background. Then I moved on with the shading...

STEP 12
Applied some dark & light color on her... (remember save it to another file for backup when u color it! to avoid unwanted incident, if not u need to draw again... Don't take this lightly because it happened to me once when i was finishing this work, luckily i got a backup psd file!)

STEP 13
Applied lighter color on her boobs...

STEP 14
Then I applied darker shadow on her hand coz the weapon blocked the lantern's light...

STEP 15
After finishing her body & her hand, then I moved on with her face... (because of the light from the lantern, I painted it from the bottom to the top. Its easier for me to apply colour and light sensitivity on my artwork...

STEP 16
This is the best function by Corel Painter. u can rotate your work anyway u like for the best way to draw! (shortcut key: E)

STEP 17
I started to paint the background. after that i opened a new layer for the lighting from lantern & provided an overlay before the bg layer... (i use a lot of layer on my work coz it made it easier to change into another effect or color. and of course, i'm not PUPPETEER! he only needed to juz use one layer for all his work! awesome!)

STEP 18
Then I drew some grass behind the ladder(forgot to capture screen for the roof process...)

STEP 19
This step was to draw the moon & cloud(i opened a new layer for cloud)

STEP 20
I finished with the cloud's layer and then continued with some bamboo.

STEP 21
The bg almost done dy, but the cloud...

STEP 22
Then i put multiply on the cloud layer, it looked better.

STEP 23
Then I drew her partner- Mei-Ling behind her， throwing 'fu'(符).

STEP 24
Realising the smoke was also the hardest part for me. i tried download some smoke pic & mask it with photoshop & draw the smoke with 20-30 opacity brush. Duplicated it and put on my work layer.

STEP 25
This step quite important for me coz i can change any tone or feel for my work. Opened a new layer and added a gradient(overlay)

STEP 26
It was time to put more detail work on bg...

STEP 27
I added some motion blur effect on the word coz I was to show that the lantern was moving! Copied the lantern to another new layer and made it bigger & put more lower opacity then moved it to the right.

FINAL STEP
I done this work at my house with LCD monitor, so the color is not entirely the same when i printed it out. So i changed the contrast on the final step and stamped my name/seal. Done!

Sure, he has got some serious issue going on his head but Detective Poncho is a blur-headed soul who finds friendship with a born-without-legs, helplessly flying birdfriend, Kiwi. Guided with instinct, Poncho is a goal-oriented detective who often stumbles upon chase (cant really blame him.Heavy head) and has a queer liking of metal, be it a fridge or a street light. He delivers fast, accurate shootings, often mistaken as a merciless police. But the truth is, he is an animal-lover who fancies metal and have a fear for... well, magnet.

Finished this with Illustrator CS.

After i buying a tablet with my friends Sanjiv together. i falling in love with digital painting! following was my artwork for online game contest.

蒙女战士与冰雪巨人
A Mongolian warrior fighting with Iceman for saving a baby.

Personally I love fantasy as it gives me a wide space to imagine.This concept is inspired by nature and the fact that I believe in peace and freedom. Usually I fail to express the mood of my character and painting but I think this time around, I am quite satisfied with the result (although it was far from perfect Smile ). The full res of the painting is close to 4000X5600. There are small details that I would like to see as a representative of a translucent & harmless world. For example, Angel's attire is clear, translucent, almost exposed, while the polar bear roamed freely, roaring its heart out. A peaceful blend of beauty and beast.

i dono why i love drawing robot, maybe influence by movie when im kid. this To-Fu from japan, so my concept also stay with japan element. i put a sun of japan (not bitch...) on the head and a word Mie(destroy) on it because this is a destroyer & without feeling for killing thousand life.But i over dateline again!!!

my concept: 这猴子故事可长了 ...... 原本这猴族是在这 2020年最猛而且智商也不错的灵猴，但却被人类急需人类实验而被 10名科学家硬把它们活生生的改造成机械化。由此这猴族不再复存。当科学家为了这实验品 - “M-7” 改造中，也还没装置控制器时， M-7 就无故苏醒过来了。这时当然兽性大发，毫不犹豫的大开杀戒，把 7名科学家给分尸了(3 名尚存 ) 。然后便逃离现场。而 2020 年的国际军队立刻派队大肆巡逻以保这 M-7 不会滥杀人类。在人类逼杀的环境中， M-7 活得没日安宁，度日如年。只为在世上存活多一日的 M-7 ，杀死了无数的军人...... 这故事告诉世人，禽兽非人也，无智无谋，何必为了私欲而滥杀将濒临灭绝的动物呢？敬请三思而決。

Once he awakens, he realized life has changed. Year 2020 witnessed the brutal war of human and beast. Fought back to life, M-7, animal captive by a group of scientists was inhumanly transformed into another being. Equipped with intelligence beneath the shield of metal; an erupting energy coming from the combination of machine and beast, M-7 also bore a human heart... painfully subjecting him to emotions. He woke up with a vengeance and began his killing spree, in fighting for his freedom of survival, and his freedom to release his binded heart.
This episode meant to tell us that animal are no human.. it is born without the cognitive ability to take charge of life and make decision. To change them to fulfill our own desires is never our rights. As the chinese saying goes, 三思而後決 , before any action is taken, is best its considered triple times.

很不幸的自由是天生的連體字後﹐ 就算自字多麼用力擺脫由字﹐ 依然還是白費力氣﹑徒勞無功。
當人們都尋找自由的同時，政府施予適當的約束是無可必免的。

Done with poster color, take me a week finished this box box work...finally pass up after dateline 3-4days, but lecture still give me 76+marks(A) and show it to the whole course mate.Thx dude.

lecture want us copy some famous work from textbook, my mind directly think about this "Monalisa". Before i start drawing this, i thought it might be very difficult to copy, but when i start freehand sketching,color,touch up,done. It quite easy but take some time too. After few days, lecture said the eyes of her not balance and ask me why this happen? i said i freehand sketching, not tracing like others. He juz said "wow!" :)

This character name Jiang Xiao Yu(江小鱼) from China novel name 绝代双骄. This novel quite famous when I'm 16-17years old. I love this novel RPG game too. So i decided draw something for this character.
